Metode-metode spesifik untuk penghilangan pengotor meliputi filtrasi, aliran listrik, pemurnian elektromagnetik, dan metode pemurnian dengan fluks. Metode pemurnian dengan filtrasi merupakan metode yang umum digunakan dalam penghilangan pengotor pada aluminium cair. Metode ini telah menarik perhatian para pekerja di bidang metalurgi dari berbagai negara berkat keunggulannya dalam hal kebersihan, kontinuitas, efisiensi biaya, dan jangkauan pemurnian yang luas. Pemurnian elektromagnetik memanfaatkan gaya elektromagnetik untuk menggerakkan kotoran dalam logam cair agar bergerak secara terarah dan terkonsentrasi pada pemisah, sehingga mencapai tujuan pemurnian. Sejak diperkenalkannya teknologi pemurnian elektromagnetik pada awal tahun 1980-an, penelitian dasar yang luas telah dilakukan di dalam dan luar negeri, dan banyak solusi teknologi pemurnian elektromagnetik yang berbeda telah diusulkan. Skema-skema tersebut terutama meliputi: \u2460 Medan magnet dan arus diterapkan secara terpisah, seperti arus searah + medan magnet statis, arus bolak-balik + medan magnet bolak-balik; \u2461 Medan magnet bolak-balik dan arus yang diinduksinya, seperti medan magnet kumparan induksi, medan magnet gelombang berjalan; \u2462 Arus bolak-balik dan medan magnet yang diinduksinya.<\/p>\n<p>Di antara keduanya, gaya elektromagnetik yang dihasilkan oleh skema \u2460 relatif seragam, namun skema ini memerlukan dua set peralatan independen untuk menghasilkan medan elektromagnetik, yang biayanya terlalu mahal. Metode ini memiliki keunggulan berupa ketersediaan bahan yang mudah, tidak memerlukan peralatan khusus, pengoperasian yang sederhana, dan biaya yang rendah. Kemampuan fluks dalam menghilangkan pengotor ditentukan oleh adsorpsi dan pelarutan inklusi teroksidasi dalam cairan logam oleh fluks, serta interaksi kimia antara fluks dan cairan logam. Semakin rendah tegangan antarmuka antara fluks dan inklusi, semakin baik adsorpsi fluks dan semakin kuat penghilangan pengotornya.
