Proses pelarutan terutama dilakukan dengan menambahkan zat kimia yang mampu melarutkan inklusi dalam terak, memanfaatkan kesamaan sifat fisik dan kimianya, lalu menghilangkannya bersama fluks. Sebagai contoh, Na\u2083AlF\u2086 dapat melarutkan Al\u2082O\u2083.
