Pada paduan Al-Cu-Mg dengan kandungan magnesium kurang dari 1,0%, kandungan silikon lebih dari 0,5% dapat meningkatkan kecepatan dan kekuatan penuaan buatan tanpa memengaruhi kemampuan penuaan alami. Karena silikon dan magnesium membentuk fase Mg2Si, hal ini mendukung efek penuaan buatan. Namun, ketika kandungan magnesium ditingkatkan menjadi 1,5%, kekuatan dan ketahanan panas paduan akan menurun seiring dengan peningkatan kandungan silikon setelah proses pendinginan cepat (quenching) pada penuaan alami atau perlakuan penuaan buatan. Oleh karena itu, kandungan silikon dalam paduan umumnya dibatasi hingga kurang dari 0,5%. Untuk paduan yang memerlukan plastisitas tinggi, kandungan silikonnya harus lebih rendah.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unsur-unsur Pengotor dalam Seri 2000<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fe dan Al membentuk senyawa FeAl\u2083. Fe juga dapat membentuk senyawa berbutir kasar dengan unsur-unsur seperti Cu, Mn, dan Si. Senyawa-senyawa ini tidak larut ke dalam matriks dan mengurangi plastisitas paduan. Paduan ini rentan terhadap retak selama deformasi. Selain itu, hal ini secara signifikan mengurangi efek penguatan. Namun, sejumlah kecil Fe (kurang dari 0,25%) memiliki pengaruh yang kecil terhadap sifat mekanis paduan, yang memperbaiki kecenderungan pembentukan retak pengecoran dan pengelasan, tetapi mengurangi laju penuaan alami. Untuk memperoleh bahan dengan plastisitas yang lebih tinggi, kandungan Fe dan Si dalam paduan harus serendah mungkin. Jumlah kecil Zn (0,1% hingga 0,5%) memiliki pengaruh yang kecil terhadap sifat mekanik paduan Al-Cu-Mg pada suhu kamar, namun hal ini mengurangi ketahanan panas paduan. Oleh karena itu, kandungan Fe umumnya dibatasi hingga 0,3% atau kurang. Sejumlah kecil Si (0,4%) tidak memiliki pengaruh yang jelas terhadap sifat mekanik pada suhu kamar, tetapi juga akan mengurangi kekuatan lelah pada suhu 300\u00b0C. Apabila kandungan Si melebihi 0,4%, hal ini juga akan menurunkan sifat mekanik pada suhu kamar. Oleh karena itu, kandungan Si harus dijaga di bawah 0,3%. Jumlah kecil Zn (0,3%) tidak berpengaruh terhadap kinerja paduan pada suhu kamar, namun dapat mempercepat difusi Cu dalam Al dan mengurangi kekuatan lelah paduan pada suhu 300\u00b0C, sehingga umumnya dikendalikan di bawah 0,1%.<\/p>\n<p>AdTech menawarkan bahan bantu untuk penghilangan pengotor.
