Filter busa keramik yang digunakan untuk melebur aluminium dapat menghilangkan partikel inklusi halus berukuran sekitar 10 hingga 25 \u03bcm, yang merupakan sebagian besar inklusi, sehingga menghasilkan paduan aluminium berkualitas tinggi. Namun, serutan aluminium biasanya mengandung konsentrasi tinggi berbagai pengotor.
