Prinsipnya adalah dengan mengalirkan gas inert atau gas aktif yang tidak larut dalam aluminium cair ke dalam aluminium cair tersebut, atau menambahkan garam klorin (klorida) untuk bereaksi dengan aluminium cair guna menghasilkan gas, yang kemudian menghasilkan sejumlah besar gelembung yang terlepas dari dalam aluminium cair.<\/p>\n<p>Karena tekanan parsial hidrogen di dalam gelembung adalah PH=0, hidrogen yang terlarut dalam cairan aluminium akan terus masuk ke dalam gelembung sesuai dengan prinsip kinetika penghilangan hidrogen. Setelah gelembung-gelembung tersebut naik ke permukaan, hidrogen di dalamnya akan terlepas ke atmosfer.
