Terutama dalam proses pengecoran ingot paduan aluminium berongga, tingkat cairan harus dikendalikan dengan baik dan tidak boleh berfluktuasi naik-turun. Jika tingkat cairan di dalam kristalisator terlalu tinggi, hal ini mudah menyebabkan retakan pada permukaan ingot. Jika tingkat cairan terlalu rendah, ingot rentan mengalami penghalang dingin dan kebocoran aluminium.
