Aluminium cair masuk ke headbox dari kotak filter CFF melalui saluran aliran. Umumnya ada dua cara untuk masuk ke headbox:<\/p>\n

Karena adanya selisih ketinggian yang cukup besar antara permukaan cairan di saluran tuang dan saluran masuk aluminium cair, saluran masuk tersebut umumnya digunakan untuk mengontrol aliran cairan dengan menggunakan kerucut pembatas dari serat keramik.<\/p>\n

Ketika sumbat serat keramik<\/a> jika kerucut berada dekat dengan bagian bawah lubang nozel, aluminium cair disuntikkan melalui celah antara bagian atas lubang nozel dan sumbat serat keramik, yang sering kali menimbulkan gelombang pada permukaan cairan, sehingga menyebabkan ketinggian cairan berfluktuasi, yang pada gilirannya menyebabkan meniskus di celah rol nozel ikut berfluktuasi. Oleh karena itu, filter vertikal dapat dipasang di antara saluran masuk dan saluran keluar kotak depan untuk mencegah propagasi gelombang dan difraksi, yang dapat mengurangi atau menghilangkan riak air.
