Karena kedua metode ini saling melengkapi, terak dan gas tidak dapat dipisahkan sepenuhnya. Secara umum, terak terkait dengan gas; semakin banyak inklusi, semakin tinggi kandungan gas dalam lelehan, dan sebaliknya.
