Efisiensi penghilangan gas pada aluminium ditentukan oleh dua faktor, yaitu laju transfer melalui antarmuka logam\/gas dan luas permukaan total yang tersedia untuk transfer tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Mesin penghilang gas pada aluminium cair terlebih dahulu mengeluarkan gas inter, kemudian memecah gelembung-gelembung gas inert menjadi gelembung-gelembung gas yang sangat kecil melalui rotor yang berputar dengan kecepatan tinggi, serta menyebarkan gelembung-gelembung gas tersebut secara merata ke dalam logam cair.<\/p>\n<p>Dengan mengurangi diameter gelembung dan tegangan permukaan total logam, lebih banyak gas inert dan hidrogen yang bersentuhan dengan kotoran sehingga bahan-bahan berbahaya tersebut dapat dibawa ke permukaan cairan.<\/p>\n<p>Argon dan nitrogen dapat digunakan sebagai gas inert untuk proses degassing aluminium cair.
