Ceramic Foam Filter Comeau Aluminum, Porous Ceramic Filter

Ceramic Foam Filter Baie Comeau Aluminum is a new type of filter with low density, high porosity and three-dimensional network frame structure. It is widely used in the aluminum processing industry to filter molten aluminum and improve the quality of aluminum.

We provide alumina ceramic foam filters for foundries, mainly for filtering aluminum and aluminum alloys.

Alumina ceramic foam filter is a new type of molten metal filter developed in recent years to reduce casting defects. It can effectively remove inclusions, reduce trapped gas, and provide laminar flow when filtering molten aluminum.

Foam ceramics have the characteristics of light weight, high mechanical strength, large specific surface area, high porosity, good thermal shock resistance, good chemical resistance, and high temperature stability in molten metal.

Ceramic Foam Filter Baie Comeau Aluminum has a net structure with pores, which can increase the specific surface area, absorb sintered ore, and make the liquid metal more pure. The quality of waste materials such as sand holes and pores is greatly reduced, and the quality of castings is greatly improved. It is made of impregnated foam with a controllable open-cell structure and provides excellent filtering effect.

Alcoa has reached an agreement with the Quebec government for a new renewable energy contract that will supply all three aluminum smelters in the province-Baie Comeau, Becancour (ABI) and Deschambault by 2040. And made Alcoa invest 1.2 billion US dollars to upgrade and expand Baie Comeau’s production to 548,000 metric tons (mtpy) per year.

Preliminary engineering studies for Baie Comeau’s upgrade and expansion activities will begin in early 2008, and most of the investment plan is for the final phase of the project. It is expected that by 2015, the conversion and upgrade of the smelting technology of the plant to more environmentally friendly technologies will be completed, and the output of Baie Comeau will be expanded by 110,000 tons per year. The upgrade will eliminate Soderberg’s PAHs emissions and reduce the plant’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 40%.

During the upgrade and expansion phase of the project, it is estimated that it will create additional economic value of 540 million U.S. dollars. Quebec supports employment equivalent to 6,800 working years in 4 years. After the construction is completed, continuous operations will bring additional economic value of USD 470 million per year to the site, suppliers and subcontractors, and support 3,900 jobs.
