Alumina ceramic foam filter is mainly used for filtering molten aluminum and aluminum alloys in foundries. Because they have excellent resistance to corrosion by molten aluminum, they can effectively remove inclusions, reduce trapped gas and provide laminar flow, and then the filtered metal is significantly cleaner. Cleaner metals can produce higher-quality castings, fewer scraps and fewer inclusion defects, all of which help increase profits.
The most primitive form of all metals is not very stable. This form of metal may not have the best metal properties and therefore needs to be purified. The purification process of molten aluminum requires ceramic foam filter to ensure that all impurities are removed from the metal solution. Once this process is achieved, the metal can be used in different types of applications through different processes.
According to recognized industry standards, ceramic foam filters have few basic characteristics and cannot ensure the purification of molten metal. These porous components play a very important role in the whole process, so they must have standard properties.
The amount of raw materials used in the compressive strength purification process is very high, because performing this process in small amounts is not a cost-effective solution. Therefore, a large amount of metal solution is poured on these filters, so it must have a high compressive strength to withstand perfect operation.
Porosity It is the percentage of the pore space in the filter. This property is very important in operations as a filter with much larger or smaller porosity can hamper the process. Therefore, it is recommended that porosity must be ideal in terms of the types of molten metal used.
Ceramic foam filters are basically divided into 6 pore sizes: 10PPI, 20PPI, 30PPI, 40PPI, 50PPI, and 60PPI. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture. But in actual practice, the four types of 10PPI 20PPI 30PP 40PPI can meet the needs of customers.
